What is the difference between a rainjacket and a windbreaker?
A windbreaker is designed primarily to block wind and offers light water resistance for drizzles or splashes. It is very lightweight, highly breathable, and packs down small. A rain jacket (hardshell) is fully waterproof with sealed seams and a higher water column rating, but it is usually heavier and less breathable. Use a windbreaker for dry or lightly wet conditions and a rain jacket for heavy rain.
Is the windbreaker waterproof?
No, it is water-repellent (thanks to a DWR coating), meaning water beads off during light rain or splashes. It is not fully waterproof and will eventually wet out in prolonged or heavy rain. For serious wet weather, layer it with a proper rain shell or choose a dedicated waterproof jacket.
How should I dry the windbreaker?
Air dry by hanging it up, or tumble dry on low heat (gentle cycle). Low heat helps reactivate the water-repellent (DWR) coating. Avoid high heat and do not iron directly on the fabric.
What size should I choose?
